Ok, racing games are unlikely to attract similar numbers - but both project cars and Assetto corsa's sales and player numbers show just how miserable a failure R3E is. (B) As a result they have millions of people downloading and playing them.
Even so, even given that they've basically decided "F2p" means taking a racing game and cutting it up into pieces and then selling the pieces for more money than the whole thing is worth they still have no idea how to do that right either. I can't see sector 3 have the nous to understand why this is better, so this will never happen. (A) You get all of the content to play the game for free. Look at the successful F2P titles on Steam - games like Team fortress 2 and Dota 2. Fanboys say "Buy a pack! Wait for a sale!" - but that's like telling someone who is reluctant to buy a single ice cream that he should buy an ice-cream van instead. But, because of the business model this would be a stupid thing to do. If I had bought a track, I would probably have bought another one a few weeks later and maybe a car or 2 as well. I played around 100 hours in the free content and then thought "I should buy a track" - and it was clear that buying a track would be a dumb thing to do. Now, for the handful of people who are just buying whatever packs sector 3 release they don't care, but the reason the game is empty and has no players other than foaming at the mouth simbin fans is because gamers will not behave like *****s just because you create a business model that hopes they will. The way the pricing is, you'd have to be a ***** to buy one car or track. Click to expand. The thing is, the business model sucks especially because it makes no sense to only market to people who want to buy everything and tell them "buy everything and you save this much money" - these are all completely fake discounts.
